Finding every dinosaur bone in Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most rewarding collection quests for completionists exploring Rockstar's detailed open world. The quest begins after meeting Deborah MacGuiness in Heartlands, who tasks Arthur with locating 30 fossilized remains scattered across New Hanover, Lemoyne, Ambarino, and New Austin. Tracking down these prehistoric remnants requires a keen eye and extensive travel across diverse terrains. Keeping up with daily gaming news offers valuable insights for players aiming to master open-world collectibles and hidden secrets efficiently.
Starting the Dinosaur Bones Questline
To initiate the quest titled A Test of Faith, head southeast of Valentine in the Heartlands region. You will find Deborah MacGuiness excavating a fossil site, where she requests your help in finding the remaining bone sites. After speaking with her, any discovered bone location can be recorded in your journal and mailed via any post office.
Locating Bones in New Hanover and Lemoyne
New Hanover hosts a high concentration of dinosaur bones embedded in rock faces and ravine floors. Key sites include Oil Springs, Dewberry Creek, and the cliffside near the Heartlands Overflow. In Lemoyne, head toward Scarlett Meadows, where fossils lie hidden near abandoned structures and dried creek beds.
Exploring the Remote Ridges of Ambarino
Ambarino features some of the most treacherous terrain for fossil hunting due to its steep mountains and rocky cliffs. Search carefully near Grizzly East and West, particularly around Bacchus Station and Calumet Ravine. Eagle Eye is an essential tool here, as it highlights the glowing dust rising from fossil locations against the rugged landscape.
Unlocking New Austin's Final Bone Locations
The final batch of dinosaur bones is located throughout New Austin, which becomes accessible later in the game. You will find remains scattered around Cholla Springs, Rio Bravo, Gaptooth Ridge, and Hennigan's Stead. Once all 30 coordinates are mailed to Deborah, you will receive an invitation to inspect her completed fossil project and claim your final reward.
